Love, Play, Boundaries & Connections

🦋 Conscious Living – February 2026

A Reminder of the little things that can lead to bigger impacts.

This month, in the spirit of love, we explored the value of play and the role it can have in bringing more joy into our everyday lives. We also unpacked the importance of healthy boundaries — what they are, how they function, and how we can begin to implement them in practical ways.

A little introspection can go a long way, so we also touched on the courage it takes to look inward and ask ourselves the more challenging questions. And while February is often associated with love, it can also serve as a gentle reminder that simply checking in with one another regularly is a meaningful expression of care that reaches far beyond any one day or occasion.

Valentine’s Day – A Conscious Reflection ❤️

Valentines Day is not only about roses and romance.
It’s about awareness.

Love is not something we chase.
It’s something we cultivate.

In our partnerships.
In our parenting.
In our leadership.
In the way we speak to ourselves.

Conscious love is presence over performance.
It is listening instead of defending.
Choosing softness over ego.
Repair over pride.
Connection over being right.

And perhaps the deepest work of all –
offering ourselves the same compassion we so freely give others.

May it be less about perfection and more about intention.
Less about grand gestures and more about grounded presence.

Love, lived consciously, transforms everything. 🌹

✨ February Highlights
🎬 Playtime – Not just for kids
🌱 This month I explored the theme of play – not just for children, but as a nervous system pathway back to safety and joy.

I shared a personal reflection from my children’s playroom on TikTok. If you’d like to see it, you’re warmly invited to watch it here: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSagYhoAQ/

When you hear the word play, what is your body’s immediate response? – tightness, resistance, curiosity, or a gentle longing?
🎈We don’t stop playing because we grow old…

I finally opened up my DJ equipment 🎧 this month – a gift I received 2 years ago but never set up.
On reflection, I think the reason I waited so long was that I believed I needed to perform, that it had to be perfect. But the truth is, its purpose was always to play.
Play isn’t just for children – research shows it helps regulate the nervous system, reduces stress, and sparks creativity. Allowing ourselves to start anyway, to play over performance, and to embrace imperfect, joyful moments reconnects us with curiosity, presence, and fun.
How could you invite play into your week or weekend?

I ran a poll on the Conscious Living whatsapp channel asking followers which type of play feels fun to them right now, with the options being:

  • Movement play (dancing 💃, jumping 🤸, team games 🏐, sport ⚽)
  • Musical play (listening 🎶, humming 🎵, singing 🎤, writing lyrics ✍️)
  • Creative/art play (drawing ✏️, painting 🎨, doodling 🖌️, crafting ✂️, writing ✍️)
  • Nature play (exploring outdoors 🌳, feeling grass/earth 🌱, observing animals 🐦)

The resounding winner being the last one – Nature play. I have to agree, getting outdoors opens up so many opportunies to just let go and…PLAY

 🤸🏽‍♀️Sparks of Joy

Mo Salah must’ve heard us ⚽✨ Even he agrees – play first, joy always!

Liverpool fan since I was a little girl, led by the most avid supporter – my dad – and thanks to my nephew for the reminder 🌱

🎶 100 Ways To Have Fun!

I’ve put together a list of 100 fun activities – a practical guide to spark curiosity, play, and small moments of joy, especially if you’re struggling to think of ways to play.

Pick one (or a few!) and notice how play shifts your energy, mood, and presence.

🖼️  What My Museum Portrait Revealed

I asked AI “to make an interpretive image of what my mental health would look like in a portrait in a museum”.

At first glance, it looked like a storm – heavy, chaotic.
But I noticed more through the interpretation:
⛈️Storm- mental load
⏱️Clock – pressure of time
🌿Vines – complexity we carry
🦋Butterflies – growth through it all
📈Crack – not collapse, but expansi
🩹Bandaged hand – healing others whilst still healing

Our mental “portraits” can hold both light and shadow. It’s not about being fixed – it’s about holding the duality ethically, noticing resilience, and finding meaning even in the depth.
A small invitation to hold both storm and sunlight in the same glance.

🍰 Reclaim Your Piece of the CakeIn therapy, I often explore how easily we give our time and energy away – to work, to family, to expectations, to being “the reliable one.”

But sustainability requires something radical: keeping a piece for yourself.

Boundaries are part of this -subtle lines that allow you to give without quietly disappearing.

As you reflect today:
Where might you experiment with letting others have 5% less – so you have 5% more?

💝 Let’s Talk Boundaries – An Essential Self-Love Tool

We often assume change requires a complete overhaul, but lasting strength is usually built through repetition.

Often, we don’t consciously give up our piece. It happens quietly and gradually. We call it sacrifice—and sometimes even believe it will be glorified. But when we slowly disappear from our own lives, the people around us can begin to learn that love looks like exhaustion, depletion, and constant overextension.

Boundaries help shift that pattern. They aren’t walls—they’re small slices of space that allow love to flow sustainably. Research shows that clear, healthy boundaries often make people feel safer, more respected, and more trusting in relationships.

I encourage you to choose just one boundary to practise each week. Not ten new rules—just one small, clear action. It might be going to bed earlier, putting your phone in another room for 30 minutes, closing your laptop when you said you would, drinking water before your next coffee, or saying, “Let me think about that,” instead of automatically saying yes.

Growth rarely comes from intensity alone. It comes from small actions repeated consistently.

As you practise, stay curious. Notice what happens when you say a gentle “no” to what drains you and a wholehearted “yes” to what supports you. Check in with yourself occasionally and ask, Am I honouring my limits here?

What if reclaiming your piece of the cake wasn’t selfish—but simply the practice of setting gentle, loving boundaries? Even small, quiet shifts strengthen your inner compass.

What if:
* You are capable.
* This will work out.
* You are supported.
* You are more ready than you think.

The brain predicts danger by default.
Growth begins when we question the prediction.

Today, pause when fear speaks.
And ask: What else could be true?

Take your life in your own hands.
Stop blaming.
Start acting.
This one might challenge you – have a listen

💌 Choose to Connect

🕊 In a world where the headlines often feel heavy and conflict can seem overwhelming, it’s easy to feel divided or powerless. Yet even in these moments, small acts of connection matter.

Through conversations with friends around the world, I’ve heard stories of fear, hope, and resilience. Despite differences in borders, beliefs, and experiences, empathy still finds a way through.

Reaching out becomes a bridge — a simple way to acknowledge one another’s humanity and show care beyond circumstance.

🌱 Even when the world feels heavy, connection can help keep hope alive.
